Working principle of hydraulic pump

A hydraulic pump is a hydraulic component that provides pressurized liquid for hydraulic transmission and is a type of pump. Its function is to convert the mechanical energy of the power machine (such as electric motors and internal combustion engines, etc.) into the pressure energy of the liquid.

The figure shows the working principle of a single piston pump. The cam is driven by the electric motor to rotate. When the cam pushes the plunger upward, the sealing volume formed by the plunger and cylinder decreases, and the oil is squeezed out from the sealing volume and discharged to the required place by the check valve. When the cam rotates to the descending part of the curve, the spring forces the plunger downward, forming a certain vacuum, and the oil in the oil tank enters the sealing volume under the action of atmospheric pressure. The cam makes the plunger lift continuously, the seal volume decreases and increases periodically, and the pump continuously sucks and discharges oil.
Classification
Commonly used types of hydraulic pumps:
1, according to whether the flow rate can be adjusted can be divided into: variable pump and quantitative pump. The output flow can be adjusted according to the need is called variable pump, the flow cannot be adjusted is called quantitative pump.
2, according to the pump structure commonly used in the hydraulic system is divided into: gear pump, vane pump and piston pump 3 kinds.
Gear pump: smaller size, simpler structure, less stringent requirements for oil cleanliness, cheaper; but the pump shaft is subject to unbalanced force, serious wear, leakage is larger.
Vane pump: divided into double-acting vane pump and single-acting vane pump. This pump has uniform flow, smooth operation, low noise, higher pressure and volumetric efficiency than gear pumps, and more complicated structure than gear pumps.
Piston pump: high volumetric efficiency, small leakage, can work under high pressure, mostly used in high-power hydraulic system; but the structure is complex, high material and processing accuracy requirements, expensive, high requirements for oil cleanliness.
Generally in the gear pump and vane pump can not meet the requirements only when the piston pump. There are some other forms of hydraulic pumps, such as screw pumps, etc., but the application is not as common as the above three.
